Science Week

In Paihia school we have been doing Science Week. Science week is when you go to every senior teacher and do some science. My teacher did oobleck and my friend Sam’s teachers one made sherbet and lemonade and the other made a straw airplane.   My other friend Josh his teacher was making cars and stuff.  My favourite was making the oobleck because oobleck is hard and soft at the same time pretty much.  If you hit your hand really hard it's a solid.  If you just slightly put your finger in it's a liquid. Now you learned something about oobleck.

life ed

In Te Maunga we went to life education/Harold. If you don’t know what life ed (the smaller words life education) is when you learn about what is bullying and when you do something mean and rude. Rude is when you accidentally trip someone up and you don’t say sorry. Mean is like someone doing something on purpose like tripping you up on purpose. Bully is when they keep on doing it like if you trip someone up twice, that’s being a bully. If you just do it once that’s just being mean.

First Aid Course

In Te Maunga we have been learning first aid. We learnt the DRSABCD. The letters of DRSABCD all stand for different things you need to do to help an injured person. The first thing you need to remember to do is look for danger to yourself. The second thing to do is if you patient looks unconscious, is to tap them on the shoulder five times and talk loudly to them and ask them if they are alright to check if they are really unconscious or not. The third thing is to send for help. Call 111 or get someone else to call or get an adult to help. If your patient is unconscious, the first thing you do is check their airway to see if anything is blocking it. Tilt their head back and lift their chin, check their is nothing in their mouth. We also learnt to how put a bandage on someone and make a cast. I feel like I just learnt a whole lot of new things about what to do to help people if their is an accident.

The four shot movie

We have been learning about four shot movies. Isaiah, Tia and I made a movie about Superman but we called it Super Vinnie. The four shots we  used were  a close up, bird’s eye view, long shot and the medium shot. The movie had to be around 30 seconds long. Then we had to write a narrative about our movie. What I feel I did well is understanding the instructions on how to make a four shot movie. I hope you enjoy my writing and our little video.

Here is our Movie.

Super Vinnie
Once upon a time there lived a man called Vinnie. Vinnie was a superhero he flew through the sky like an aeroplane. Then he was so serious on his missions because if he lost he would get fired. He was so strong and he was fast. Vinnie was the best superhero in the land.  His previous mission was to capture the Joker. The Joker was hardest person to defeat. Super Vinnie could fly up to clouds and airplanes. Super Vinnie  worst friend ever was called Mr Evil Pork Chop. Some people saw Super Vinnie  fly and they were shocked.

He's never had trouble with balance
                             He flew through the air
                             Between the goalposts near

1. 7 Centermeter of coloured A4 paper.

2. Scissors

3. Glue
Stick

4. Ruler

5. Any piece of paper

Take the edge of the the strip of paper and fold it over to meet the side edge. When you have both edges carefully lined up run your fingernail along the fold you have made to make it sharp.

Cut your triangle off the piece of paper.

Place your triangle in front of you and fold the corners across to the left.

Now fold corner B across to the right and glue it down.

Turn the paper over now you have made one petal.

Make four more petals . Glue them on a circle to a piece of paper or card. Now you have made a flower.

Make 5 more petals and glue them between your first set  of petals to make a double flower!

Once you are done you cold place it in a card for someone special!

All the frogs in New Zealand are called Hochstetter's frog, Archie’s frog, Maud Island frog and the Hamilton frog. We made paper frogs and my jumped over a book and I named my frog hops.
